Meet Cassandra Powell

Founder/Artistic Director

Cassandra Powell is a playwright, poet, actress and activist.  Theatre credits include Indigo, Blood Water and Storyville Blues.  Her plays have appeared Off-Off Broadway and garnered national recognition from the Midtown International Theatre Festival, the National Black Theatre Festival, and the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival. 

With an ardent passion for activism and a background in journalism, Cassandra has published news articles spreading awareness of community issues in the Capitol Hill area in D.C. and assisted the Governor's Office in Atlanta with a voter registration campaign to help increase voting participation among underrepresented groups.  Recently, she partnered with SCLC Stop the Violence non-profit organization to help spread awareness of police brutality, crime and poverty in the Atlanta community.  Cassandra founded Yellow Dream Productions in 2013 to continue her mission to push the movement for sociopolitical change through the arts.
